A French pianist, Emmanuelle STEPHAN inherited her passion for piano from her first teacher, Russian : Professor Yuri KLEMPERT, a student of Isaac ZETEL, himself a pupil of the great founder of the Russian piano school : Heinrich NEUHAUS.
A competition laureate from a very young age (awarded in Paris the First Prize of the Competition of France’s Musical Academy, and the Gold Clef of the French Association for Musical Expression), she starts her formal piano training at the Conservatory of Music of Luxemburg, notably with concert pianist Jean Müller, and leaves Europe for the USA, where she joins the superior piano class of Assaff Weisman at the Juillard School in New York for 2 years.
She continues to polish her skills at the Vienna Musikhochschule with great pianist Lilya ZILBERSTEIN, and pursuies her piano performance studies at Paris’ Schola Cantorum under the teaching of Gabriel TACCHINO, sole pupil and reference performer for French composer Françis POULENC.
Emmanuelle is keen on deriving inspiration at the source from Great Masters who are the memory of an authentic tradition of interpretation. Her pianism thus reflects two Piano Schools :
- The Russian School : by taking advice from Russian pianist Lilya ZILBERSTEIN, who is widely recognised as the reference interpreter for Sergei RACHMANINOFF. Lilya ZILBERSTEIN was the pupil of Alexandre SATZ (himself the assistant of Heinrich NEUHAUS at the Moscow Conservatory).
- The French School : she continues to follow the masterclasses of Gabriel TACCHINO, who was himself a pupil of Marguerite LONG and Jacques FEVRIER, therefore deeply influenced by the tradition of the French Piano School, concerning the works of SATIE, FAURE, RAVEL, SAINT-SAENS, POULENC.
Emmanuelle performs at international festivals and concert series in France and abroad, notably in the Croisette Theater in Cannes, within the framework of the festivals « Musical Nights of Notre-Dame de Vie » and « A Winter in Music » in Mougins, at the Festival « Clef de Soleil » in Lille’s Conservatory of Music, at the « Rendez-Vous of the Piano » in Nice, at Fort-De-France on the national stage « Atrium Tropiques » of Martinique, in Germany at the Robert-Schumann-Haus of Trier, in Belgium at the theater « Le Moulin de Saint-Denis » of Mons, in Luxemburg at the European Communities’ Cultural Cercle and in Italy at the « Festival di Pasqua dell’ Accademia Europea Mozart » of Cervo.
In 2015, she is invited in China to perform POULENC, DEBUSSY and CHOPIN within the framework of the concert series « Star Pearl Éducation – New Pearl Education – Nouvelle Star ».
