Anastasia Safonova started her professional career at the age of twelve with a successful performance of a Mendelssohn concerto with the Moscow Junior Symphony Orchestra.

She graduated cum laude from the Gnessin Institute in Moscow and completed her Master’s degree with Naum Grubet at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (NL).

Safonova won first prize in the international Yamaha Music and Youri Egorov competitions.

She is regularly invited to major venues in the Netherlands (Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen Rotterdam, De Vereniging Nijmegen, Frits Philips Eindhoven, Beurs van Berlage Amsterdam, Philarmonie Haarlem, Muziekcentrum Enschede, Theater aan het Vrijthof Maastricht) and frequently performs throughout Europa, Turkey, China and Russia, with prominent musicians including Boris Berezovsky, Boris Belkin, Michael Kugel, Henri Demarquette and Lisa Ferschtman.

She has performed as a soloist with orchestras including Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Johan Willem Friso Kapel and the symphony orchestra of Siegen.

Anastasia Safonova is a regular guest at various international festivals, including the Schleswig Holstein Festival (Germany), the Bourglingster Festival (Luxembourg), Pianoscope (France), the Tiberius Festival (Romania), the Ankara Chamber Music Festival (Turkey), Music of Earth (Russia) and the Grachtenfestival (the Netherlands).

Safonova has made recordings for the concert channel Brava TV and Radio 4 (NL), and released various chamber music CDs with violist Esra Pehlivanli and violinists Kyoko Yonemoto and Irina Simon-Renes. In addition to classical concerts, she is often involved in programmes that combine words, music and art, such as the successful Geller-Goya and Marc Chagall projects and the Mr. Finney event by Princess Laurentien of Orange. For the latter, Anastasia Safonova was personally thanked by the Royal Family.

She is teaching in the Classical Music department of Conservatorium Maastricht since 2000.
