Blues workshop with Nico & Alina

WHAT:
We are glad to welcome you for two days full of blues in a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The theme of this workshop is Blues dancing: an evolution from Juke Joint to Blues Fusion. Our teachers will guide you through the evolution of blues dancing, starting from dancing in Juke Joints, then developing into Ballrooming, getting some inspiration from Tango, while being open to more modern influences!
We offer two tracks of blues dance classes, one for more experienced blues dancers and one for those who have either limited blues experience or want to get to know blues dancing for the first time. We have invited Nico & Alina from Rennes to teach you their cozy and stretchy dancing style. On top of that we’ll have the magnificent Stef Rosen with his guitar on Saturday night and our very own Duke Box on Sunday afternoon to round the weekend off.

TEACHERS
ALINA VYSOTSKAYA AND NICO NAMAN
Nico’s and Alina’s classes are a fascinating mix of French charm and eastern austerity and are always a friendly meeting where everyone laughs and shares thoughts aloud.
As each of them had their own dancing experience, their dancing style became rich with different techniques.
Tango, hip-hop, classic, contemporary dance and later lindy hop and blues.
All these different families of dance now help them in understanding mechanics and aesthetics of the body and the way of moving according to traditions of different dances. Relying on feelings and self-expression, virtuously combining their experience in dance, with every dance they build their unique universe of blues.
Nicolas and Alina are based in Rennes (France), they are organizing numerous events and teaching in a school called “Dance Addict”, that was created by Nicolas in 2014. They have taught together in their native countries France, Belarus, and beyond, took prizes in competitions separately and in a couple. And their common passion for travel and sharing continuously inspires them for new projects.

SATURDAY BAND – STEF “SLIDIN’ WOLF” ROSEN
Stef Rosen is a guitar player and singer from Berlin, Germany. His way of composing, playing and arranging is inspired by the soulful electric blues from the 70s.
He looks at the tradition of this music with a personal and respectful attitude. He is constantly touring around the World, playing in blues clubs, festivals, and blues dance events as solo artist or collaborating with other great musicians and bands.
He has been playing blues from New York to Seoul, from London to Moscow, anywhere people need to dance their blues away!
In 2017 he joined a European tour with Tony Coleman, who has been drummer for many blues legends such as Albert King, Albert Collins, Etta James, Ruth Brown, and for the king of the Blues himself: B.B. King, for more than 20 years.
